World Cup Insults: How to call a coach a c**k sucker
and not get ejected from the stadium or be arrested for using offensive language.
A transport coach is a vehicle that carries or conveys people, whereas a sports coach is someone who carries or supports someone in the figurative sense. However, the word coach derives from a type of horse drawn cart called a szecker from the Hungarian town of Koksi via Middle French word coche.
So I reckon you can legitimately call someone a Koksi szecker and claim you are not being offensive. Sounds a bit like 'cock sucker' especially if spoken with a Borat accent.
With the World Cup underway, I've been wondering why some teams have a manager whereas others have a coach, or a head coach even. But that got me thinking about the origin of the word coach, and whether the two different meanings- type of transport and sports trainer / manager had the same root. A quick look in the dictionary confirms that they do.

I doubt whether this is worthy of inclusion in any of Mark Forsyth's books on etymology (eg The Etymologicon, The Horologicon) http://bouncermangel.blogspot.co.uk/2014/04/chennal-4-sunday-brunch-mark-forsyth.html
