Nil Desperandum!
At least that's what I thought it meant.
A mate's dad told me that years ago, and I always thought it was the literal translation from the Latin. But of course it isn't. The dictionary definition is as follows:
- never despair.
- I am not going to give up. Not for giving up, as in: this is not for giving up on.
I'm sticking with my own definition. Its become my motto for most of this academic year ending July 2014. Especially when the bastards bringing you down are the capricious, vindictive, bullying, discriminatory, abusive, devious, deceptive, aggressive, manipulative, self-serving, Head Teachers of two primary schools I have the misfortune to deal with. Did I mention illiterate as well?
